Founded in 2015 by Maria Sileny, the Prague Literary Agency represents well-established contemporary Czech authors to international publishers. In our portfolio, we have authors of high-quality fiction as well as children's literature—all of them carefully selected, most of them award-winning.
We offer summaries and translated English extracts from all the books presented, from some of them also in other languages—for example German, French or Spanish. Publishers can meet us in person at the Czech stand at many international bookfairs. We are proud of our popular Czech authors and believe that their translated works will be well-received by readers all over the world.
She was born in Prague, but lived 35 years in Munich, Germany, where she studied Political Science, German Linguistics, and Publishing Science. She worked for seventeen years as an editor in Germany.
For family reasons, she returned to Prague in 2013, and since then has been working as a freelancing journalist, writing in German. Meanwhile, she encountered some excellent Czech fiction writers. Because of her enthusiasm for good contemporary Czech literature she has decided to represent the authors abroad, and she founded the Prague Literary Agency in 2015.
