The author Sylva Fischerová presented her poem Wittgenstein to an audience in Cork, Ireland, as part of the programme of the Cork International Poetry Festival, held in mid‑May. The poem, translated by the award‑winning translator Deborah Garfinkle, had appeared earlier in the May issue of the literary magazine Plume, which also features a short text by the author about the process of writing the poem in its section Poets and Translators Speak.

Sylva Fischerová’s residency in Cork was organised by the Czech Literary Centre in cooperation with Literature Ireland. Her extensive poem engages deeply with the philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein and took five years to reach its final form. A bilingual German–Czech edition will soon be published by Thelem University Press in Dresden.
