This is the story of some truly peculiar little creatures who secretly live in our homes and feast on socks—turning every neat pair into a lonely odd leftover. Right in the middle of all this sock‑mischief is young Hihlík who has a penchant for giggling at awkward moments.

His parents have rushed off to help some needy odd-sock‑eaters across the ocean. So Hihlík now lives with his grandfather in the house of an old trumpet teacher. This man actually can see the Odd-Sock‑Eaters—a rare gift indeed.

And what a world they live in! Tiny tricksters who can swipe a sock straight off your foot, stretch themselves like rubber bands, then snap back to size. Their rules are as odd as can be: Never take the whole pair! Sock‑Eaters, after all, pick up human habits—the good ones and the questionable ones.

Hihlík’s extended family includes his cousins Ramses and Tulamor Junior. Their father, Tulamor Senior—also known as Padre—lives with his clan in the home of a slightly mad scientist who has dedicated his life to studying the Odd-Sock‑Eaters. Up in the attic, Padre keeps a whole warehouse stuffed with stolen socks. After Tulamor Junior is captured by the scientist for research, Padre sends his gang to rescue him. After the mission goes sideways, a rival boss appears with his gang. Finally, the story spins into a kind of children’s gangster caper, with socks flying through the air, a bar in uproar, and Odd-Sock‑Eaters tumbling headfirst into chaos and adventure.
