Inspector Holina's second case begins with the discovery of the body of a Vietnamese student. The clues lead to different milieus: the huge Vietnamese market in Prague, a nightclub, but also to a married couple who won the jackpot in the lottery. As in all crime novels by Iva Procházková, readers encounter psychologically convincing characters and can immerse themselves deeply in their lives.

A girl in erotic lingerie is found dead in a snowy garden outside a luxury villa near Prague. At first glance, the circumstances point to a sexually motivated murder. Inspector Holina takes over the investigation.  Step by step he penetrates the circle of people around the murdered Vietnamese student Anh. His search leads him first to the famous Vietnamese market Sapa in Prague and the competitive tussles between the traders, then to an erotic nightclub with skimpily dressed waitresses, where Anh worked to finance her studies. The suspects run the gamut. Among them is Anh’s jealousy-ridden lover Patrick, but also her strange stepfather.

When Holina discovers that Anh also helped to take care of a guy who suffers from physical and mental disabilities, a new possible motive appears: The disabled guy and his wife won the jackpot in the lottery. But the slip of paper with the winning combination has disappeared. Maybe someone has stolen it. After another young woman, the physiotherapist who treated the guy, is found dead, the circle of suspects narrows. But are the two murders connected?

A masterfully written detective story by a Czech author with intriguing characters.
